Rick Owens Turns Paris Fashion Week Pink

Presenting the SS24 collection at Palais de Tokyo.

Rick Owens returned to Paris Fashion Week in full force, once again taking over the iconic Palais de Tokyo for a platform-studded show that turned the Parisian skyline pink. Set against a backdrop of neon pink and yellow hues, the Spring/Summer 2024 showcase offered a look at Owens’ “LIDO” collection.

Drawing inspiration from Icelandic artist Björk, the collection took influence from “everyday joy” and offered a series of sculptural garments with extreme platform boots.

Read on for Hypebae’s summary of Rick Owens SS24.

WHO: Offset and Jared Leto were in attendance amongst a slew of models, friends of the brand and Paris’ fashion community.

WHERE: Once again, taking over the iconic Palais De Tokyo, Rick Owens’ presented its SS24 collection amidst a backdrop of water with paint bombs going off the whole time in hot pink and yellow, complete with bursts of confetti.

SEE: Models gingerly paraded down the runway with black contact lenses and slicked-back hair. Shrunken motorcycle jackets were paired with leather bottoms, silk flowy ensembles and heeled versions of Rick’s classic foot cast shoe from last season.

TOUCH: Face coverings concealed models’ faces, alongside multiple variations of leather, flowy silks and lattice-like embellishments.

HEAR: “I still believe in love” was playing on repeat throughout the entire duration of the showcase.

TASTE: Strong textures and bizarre proportions appear to have a chokehold on SS24, alongside shrunken silhouettes, cropped jackets and lots of leather.
