Abra SS27 Turned Our Worlds Upside Down
The self-proclaimed “Shoe Lord” took inspiration from ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Arrietty.’
At Abra‘s Spring/Summer 2027 show, the self-proclaimed “Shoe Lord”, aka Abraham Ortuño, spoke about the influence of his childhood and current life between Mallorca and Paris on the collection.
Steeped in whimsy, playfulness and the designer’s signature approach to experimentation, the collection took inspiration from the miniature world of Arrietty, a Japanese animated film from 2010, along with Alice in Wonderland.

Playing with scale, proportion and reality, the collection distorts familiar styles and silhouettes, quite literally flipping them upside down. Elsewhere, dresses are deconstructed and stitched on top of one another, heels are worn on models’ heads and pieces expand to create a sense of distortion. Leaning into the “slightly psychedelic,” the collection featured mushroom-like textures, fruit-inspired hats and upside-down ponytails.
“Living between Paris and Mallorca, I’ve been surrounded by nature and beautiful stuff. I wanted to go more into a time in my childhood, when I spent a lot of time in the forest with my grandparents,” the designer told us after the show. “We were dreaming as kids about finding a fairy, that never happened, so now I’m bringing it to reality,” he added.
SS27 also debuted a new footwear collaboration with Camper, a brand Ortuño also co-directs creatively.
