Could this “sex recession” finally be over?
eharmony releases its Dating Diaries findings, revealing Gen Z’s current sex trends.
A year ago, a discussion of Gen Z “sex trends” would raise an eyebrow, because according to research: Gen Z wasn’t having any sex to begin with. So much so, the term “sex recession” was all the hype. It fueled hundreds of roundups on libido products from arousal oils to sex serums causing us to question whether a life without sex was in the cards for everyone.
According to new research by eharmony, our seemingly sexless generation is back in its f-cking era. “Gen Z and Millennials in relationships are having more sex,” reported eharmony, “with 20% of Gen Z having sex daily, more than any other generation.” In more surprising news, 36% of Gen Zers are having more sex than a year ago.
Research supports this is due to our generation feeling more confident, prioritizing sex and feeling less stressed. It’s important to add that many are having more fulfilling sex lives since joining therapy, too — a recurring theme in dating and sexual wellness debates.
Does this mean Gen Z’s sex recession is over? Well, eharmony reports that “61% of Gen Z enjoys being sexually adventurous with a partner — more than any other generation.” So, it could be that the sex recession is winding down.
