Rastah's 11th Collection Explores the Complexities of Self Love
Through traditional techniques and heritage-inspired designs.
Luxury Pakistani label Rastah just dropped “Volume 11,” the next instalment of its unique creative expression. This season’s offering aims to explore themes of love and self-love, concepts which, previously, haven’t come easily to the brand’s founder Zain Ahmed. “As someone who has struggled with ideating “love”, self-love always seemed far-flung, off in the horizons and something that could be thought about after the big boy stuff was completed,” he explains in the brand’s press release.
He continues, “As the winter season embraces us in its visceral grip, and the kiss of spring looms over the horizon… I wanted to explore this feeling of fear… Fear to love… Fear to be loved… Fear to let go… In whatever state or shape that may be. Why the pushback? Why the niggling desire to shut close like the gates of neverland?”
As a result, the accompanying collection sets out to amalgamate the brand’s signature techniques, in a way which evokes a sense of nostalgia and fluidity. Drawing on classic forms of creation like abstract weaving, boro stitching and block printing, the collection also leans into its heritage through traditional “Bandhani” and “Phulkari” embroidery.
