I Tried My First Astro Facial and Now I'm Officially a Convert
Zodiac oils, guided meditation and blue light therapy — this experience has got it all.
We’ll admit, that merging astrology with skincare isn’t exactly a new concept, especially when brands like Horosoaps and Kate Moss’ Cosmoss are on the market. However, merging astrology with actual treatments is another thing altogether. Cue Salon C Stellar‘s Astro Facial, combining science and wisdom to create the ultimate facial experience, catered to your birth chart.
Described on the website as “a world-first fusion of skin health and astrology,” the facial is designed to bring a multi-dimensional approach to well-being, resulting in a 75-minute treatment centering around neurocosmetics. Combining personalized ingredients, advanced technology and a meditative light trip, the facial aims to promote relaxation, rejuvenation and overall well-being.
Ahead of my appointment, I was asked to share the time, date and place of my birth, to help the facialist determine which specific Zodiac oil to use. As a Scorpio, I was surprised to see that the Leo oil was the tipple of choice for me, but I was assured that as I’m a Leo Ascendant, it would be the best choice.
After a double cleanse, my facialist utilized the moon sign Zodiac oil for a facial massage, followed by steam, exfoliation and extractions — tailored specifically to my skin type and concerns, not too dissimilar to an ordinary facial. Next, my therapist determined which combination of electrical modalities would be best for my skin, resulting in high-frequency waves to penetrate the skin and push serum in, alongside microdermabrasion to remove excess dead skin cells.
Admittedly, it was step three where things got really interesting. My therapist placed a special alginate mask all over my skin, before I settled in for a 20-minute guided Astro meditation session (specially selected based on how I was feeling and what I might need in that moment), while a medically-certified Dermalux MD blue LED light was used on my skin.
Finally, the relaxing experience was finished with a final serum used on my face, neck and shoulders, utilizing sculpting techniques and deep massage to relieve tension and stress.
All in all, the Astro facial is an experience that I can safely say is like no other facial I’ve experienced. Like a fusion of spa treatments, Face Gym workouts and breathwork retreats, it not only cleansed my skin, but relaxed my body, soul and mind.
