Casablanca SS25 Makes Cars Couture

Heavily inspired by Mexican-American “Lowrider” culture.

On a rainy Parisian afternoon, Los Angeles was somehow brought to Paris, through the lens of the Casablanca‘s creative director, Charaf Tajer. This Spring/Summer 2025 season, Tajer wove together the rich tapestry of LA’s subcultures, blending the vibrant artistry of Mexican-American “Lowrider” culture with a dash of Hollywood glam. The result? A mesmerizing fusion where the grit of the streets meets the allure of the red carpet.

The show wasn’t just about the clothes on the runway. It saw a narrative, rather, a love letter to a side of LA that often goes unseen. Tajer celebrated cultural intersections, street-level artistry and the complex beauty of a city that refuses to be defined by a single image.

WHO: Casablanca brought out none other than our favorite, Lucky Blue Smith who owned the runway with his signature clean-cut quiff. Dressed in a sharp blue-striped tie and jacket, paired with soft blue denim jeans, his look was the epitome of cool sophistication. All that was missing? His favorite accessory — the toothpick, to complete the effortlessly suave vibe he effortlessly radiates.

Strutting alongside him was Alton Mason, who glided past the neon “Lowrider” cars in a striking yellow, white and blue textured ombré ensemble. The whole scene was a visual feast, made even more star-studded with appearances from Bella Thorne, Ayra Starr and Tokischa.

HEAR: Upbeat rhythms and pulsing bass lines set an energetic and confident mood. The music had everyone nodding along, in sync with the models as they commanded the catwalk — adding an extra layer of attitude to the already bold showcase.

SEE: The collection comprises incredibly bold color palettes, with shades of electric blue and neons juxtaposed with soft warm earthy tones to convey the exact hues of “Lowrider” vehicles. The first model stepped out in an outfit that set the tone — rusty hues of tan and olive green. The outfit balanced a certain softness and structure beautifully, with a flowing, silky top that caught the light just right, paired with tailored trousers that brought a sense of grounded elegance. All in all, the collection exuded a sophisticated yet relaxed energy, offering an elevated take on casual wear that feels perfectly attuned to the LA Tajer is celebrating. Elsewhere, the collection was accessorized by custom jewelry from London-based label, Basliq.

TOUCH: A mix of textures — think crochet, embellished dresses, knits, embroideries, dazzling gemmed denim to clean suiting and neat shirts. All of which synthesized Mexican-American counterculture with the LA’s surf and skate scene.

TASTE: If it wasn’t for office ‘uniform’ policies, we’d all be wearing crocheted bikini tops with office skirts and a fluffy jacket this upcoming season.
