Hypebae got a first look at the big, bouncy wigs backstage.

Swiss-born, Berlin-based fashion brand Ottolinger is always devoted to bringing a certain air of edginess to fashion week, but this year, the collection called for glamour. And when you’re looking for someone to perfect the bombshell look, who else do you call but the go-to hairstylist of the Kardashians, Jennifer Lopez and just about every major Hollywood starlet?

For Spring/Summer 2025, Ottolinger called upon Chris Appleton, who partnered with Shark Beauty to create a ’90s-esque blowout, inspired by Cindy Crawford and the supermodels of the era. Instead of working on models’ real hair, the hairstylist used wigs to achieve a uniform look. Appleton wanted all of the models to have the same length hair, in order to contrast with the clothing, he explained backstage.

Utilizing the new Shark Beauty FlexFusion tool, Appleton and his team pulled and rolled wigs into shape before placing and gluing them onto the models’ heads. Finally, once the hair dried, each model was perfectly quaffed into place before tiny adjustments, like curling the money pieces in front of the face, were made.
