Vivienne Westwood SS25 Celebrates Power and Protest

With Irina Shayk closing the show and Hayley Williams in attendance.

Andreas Kronthaler‘s Vivienne Westwood presented its Spring/Summer 2025 collection at Paris Fashion Week, held in a square known for its history of protest and rebellion. With a distinct focus on womenswear this season, the collection offered a selection of “ultra feminine” silhouettes, seemingly following a more subtle color palette than we’re used to.

Still retaining Westwood’s punkish spirit, the collection was “reduced in color,” with a focus on “precious clothes” and a lack of print. This season, the show was held in tribute of Captain Paul Watson, a marine wildlife conservationist and activist, currently under arrest for his anti-whaling campaigns in the Arctic.

WHO: Cardi B, Hongjoong and Hayley Williams were among some of the celebrity attendees this season, with the iconic Irina Shayk closing the show.

WHERE: Held at the Place de la Republique, “where protest and history happen,” the showcase took place in a glass-walled room complete with graffiti scrawls and a window to the public.

SEE: This season’s collection followed a more subtle approach, swapping clashing prints for demure dresses, tailored suits and sheer fabrics in a monochromatic color palette. Accessories had their time to shine, arriving in the form of opulent head-pieces, mini bags and oversized sunglasses, not forgetting this season’s team-up with Dyson headphones.

TOUCH: Masses of tulle, slinky suiting and floating gowns underpinned the collection’s textures, alongside “super fine knits” and delicately sheer fabrics.

HEAR: The soundtrack for SS25 was mixed by Boris Brejcha, offering a remixed version of Will Young’s “Crying On the Bathroom Floor.”

TASTE: Layering still wins for the season ahead, but as Andreas Kronthaler puts it, “things have to be airy, light and reduced in color,” so think carefully…
