'Taking Up Space' is London's Latest Pop-Up Celebrating Black-Owned Brands

Coming together for Black History Month.

This Black History Month, The Fashion Blueprint and SwapNation are joining forces to launch “Taking Up Space,” a cultural pop-up celebrating Black heritage, creativity and conscious consumption. Hosted at Known Source’s Mayfair store in London, the weekend-long event is set to merge fashion, sustainability and community, spotlighting the innovators redefining what it means to consume with intention.

The lineup is as dynamic as the message. Expect a showcase of Black-owned fashion labels, a curated swap shop filled with designer gems handpicked by Ndaane and interactive workshops focused on upcycling and repair. Visitors can also look forward to panel talks exploring heritage and the future of sustainable fashion, alongside a social program featuring a documentary screening and DJ sets that will carry the energy into the evenings.

With over 1,000 guests expected, from designers and creatives to conscious consumers and industry insiders, “Taking Up Space” is more than just a pop-up. The event centers those who have long been left out of the sustainability narratives, celebrating Black innovation and community power within fashion’s evolving landscape.

“Black voices have often been excluded from sustainability conversations, despite being at the forefront of tackling textile waste colonialism, through creative resourcefulness and style innovation for generations,” says Giovanna Vieira, Co-founder of The Fashion Blueprint. “This event is about reclaiming that narrative, celebrating our contribution and shaping the future of fashion together,” adds Montana Marshall, founder of SwapNation.
