From Doechii’s right-hand, Dee Carrion, to the legendary Isamaya Ffrench.

If you don’t see makeup as art, it might be time to reconsider. The creative genius behind some of the fashion world’s most iconic campaigns, runways and editorial shoots is often crafted through the transformative power of glam. What might seem like or is written off as just beauty is, in fact, the last piece of the puzzle at times. The industry is filled with talented artists who use makeup to elevate a designer’s vision, turning a concept into reality.

A cool or creative beat can completely change how we view art and bring a story to life, much like clothing. From edgy and soft to ethereal and otherworldly, makeup and the artists behind it is an essential tool that deserves recognition.

From Priscilla Ono to Dee Carrion, here are a few makeup artists that we’re constantly inspired by.

Dee Carrion

If you haven’t caught on yet, we’re obsessed with Dee Carrion. As the right-hand glam to the likes of Doechii and Ayo Edebiri, her style shifts from ultra-feminine to otherworldly and artistic. Carrion’s process usually begins with sketching, before consulting with the rest of her client’s team (styling, hair, etc.) to paint a cohesive message. When it comes to the swamp princess’ glam, the makeup artist begins outlining a look a few weeks ahead of time.

Isamaya Ffrench
