Marina Abramović Announces A New Project
Releasing May 2025.
Serbian performance artist Marina Abramović announces a new, 950-piece NFT project.
Launched in partnership with TAEX, the new project titled, “Marina Abramović Element” will revisit the artist’s iconic performance art. Featuring three exclusive drops, the project will take the form of NFT digital art and bring a new story, Legend, to life.
“Working today with technology and creating my own avatar is a way to develop a new relationship between the performer and the public,” Abramović shared. “The public’s interaction provides the process through which immateriality can be transformed into energy.”
Legend is “a fictional story written by Abramović and developed by TAEX derived from her philosophy and life journey,” the exclusive press release stated. Released on Ethereum, MAE revisits her popular work, Art, Life, and Marina Abramović Method. Here, exclusive and never before seen works will be revealed making the collaboration all the more unique and rare.
In this 950-piece project, crystals, an element close to the artist, take on a new, gamified form. “Crystals are derived from Abramović’s extraordinary philosophy; she states that to enter the fifth dimension, one’s body must transform: ‘You will be able to carry your body to the fourth dimension, but not to the fifth dimension because your body is too heavy. You will have a crystal in your body in the fifth dimension.’”
The first batch of NFTs are set to release mid-May 2025. The final stage of Marina Abramović Element will birth The Great Mint, a chance for fans to “obtain the most valuable NFTs in the collection – 5D tokens that come in the form of 1-minute-long video artworks or extended animations that present new, unprecedented digital performances by Marina Abramović’s avatar.”
TAEX’s founder, Inna Bazhenova, shared: “With Marina Abramović Element we are honoured to bring her visionary practice into the digital realm, creating an immersive experience where participants from the worlds of art and Web3 become active co-creators of her legacy.”
