Dead Dirt and the Washington Spirit Dedicate Their 2025 Capsule Collection to D.C.

Spearheaded by DMV native Domo Wells, the creative director delivers another spin on sports merch as a tribute to the capital city.

Penning a love letter to the city of go-go music, iconic museums and monuments and one of the top teams in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), sports brand Dead Dirt, in partnership with the professional team, the Washington Spirit, debuts a new capsule collection dedicated to the capital city.

A tribute to Washington D.C.’s late 90s and early ’00s creative community and streetwear scene with references to Ralph Lauren’s classic rugby and preppy polo aesthetic, the 2025 Cherry Blossom Capsule was stylistically spearheaded by DMV native Domo Wells, founder of Dead Dirt and Creative Director for the Washington Spirit. Releasing just in time for the city’s cultural spring celebration, the Cherry Blossom Festival, the capsule continues Dead Dirt’s mission of enlivening sports merch with a much-needed remix.

The creative-led brand trades typical fan gear — logo-heavy hoodies and tees — for pieces that amplify local pride and support for D.C.’s women’s soccer team without skimping on style. Incorporating a cherry blossom-inspired color palette, the collection includes knit cardigans and pants, color-blocked hoodies, on-trend baby tees, jerseys and more for in-season and off-season style. With an accompanying campaign featuring local legends from model and musician Lola Monroe and creative producer Modi Oyewole to actor Darrell Britt Gibson and host Elise Peterson, the collection comes full circle by capturing the core of D.C. culture.

This capsule marks Wells’ third drop with the Washington Spirit since being named the team’s first-ever Creative Director and Designer in 2024. With every release, the LA-based multi-disciplinary artist continues to celebrate the past, present and future of D.C. while amplifying the spotlight on women’s soccer. Her meticulously crafted campaign sees other sprinkles of D.C.’s signature streetwear space, including the region’s favorite sneaker silhouette, the Nike Foamposite Ones, styled on Monroe.

The 2025 Cherry Blossom Capsule is now available in limited quantities, ahead of the Washington Spirit match on April 26. Ticket holders of the home game will have early access to the collection with remaining inventory – if any – available online after the game.
