Marko Baković's New Campaign Explores the Inner Workings of Shoe Design
Exploring the contrast between sharpness and softness.
Rising designer Marko Baković just dropped his new “Soft” collection, an exploration of the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship. Looking at the inner workings of footwear design and reimagining its core elements, the collection and accompanying campaign favors things like ornamentation and silhouette, examining what goes into a piece’s texture and design.
Shot in Amsterdam, the new campaign was shot by photographer Nikola Lamburov and styled by Jip Boxstart, and features model and artist Emilie Montfoort as the face. Juxtaposing the “bold directionality” of the shoes with a supple, butter-soft foam, the campaign focuses on the contrast between the two.
Shot against a tactile backdrop of resin, wood grain and metal fencing, the campaign looks to highlight “workshop textures” and emphasize its focus on craftsmanship. Standout silhouettes include the Yara Mule, designed with a padded bumper and upturned toe, inspired by Eastern European Opanak shoes, along with the razor-sharp Azra Pull-On Boot and rounded toe Reza shoes. Elsewhere, the collection includes details like lacquered stiletto heels and pointed spikes.
