Sophie Tea Chronicles the British Red Cross' Chelsea Flower Show Debut
“This design celebrates love in all its forms – self-love, a love for flowers and bright colors and love for people.” – Tea
Contemporary artist Sophie Tea and humanitarian collective, the British Red Cross(BRC), share their first collaboration.
The partnership celebrates the charity’s first garden debut at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. For those unfamiliar, the Chelsea Flower Show is an ethereal garden show, spanning five days in the UK.
Throughout her career, each of Tea’s initiatives reminds women of their power. Now, Tea expands her activism to include the British Red Cross’ support of everyone. For the collaboration, the contemporary artist crafted an exclusive design of the BRC’s first garden and memorialized it on a gorgeous tote bag. ”With this tote bag, I wanted to bring a bit of the British Red Cross’ Here for Humanity Garden – the colors and vibe – beyond the Chelsea Flower Show,” Tea shared.
“This design celebrates love in all its forms – self-love, a love for flowers and bright colors and love for people. People inspire all my work. The British Red Cross supports anyone in need, regardless of background or beliefs, making their work more important than ever.”
As part of the initiative, Tea will also paint the BRC’s charity shop window. “Growing up, I never had the best relationship with my body, but clothes have always been like a protective layer to me, helping me to gain confidence. I’ve always loved being able to experiment with my personal style with fabulous finds from charity shops. I’m excited to be painting the window of the British Red Cross’ charity shop in Chelsea and hopefully help spread the passion for pre-loved fashion.”
She closed: “And who doesn’t love a good tote bag!”
