Ann Demeulemeester FW26 Celebrates Internal Dialogue With "Dear Night Thoughts"
“Do our past experiences and expectations still hold us down or are these ideal times to find ourselves?”
The Ann Demeulemeester Fall/Winter 2026 presentation at Paris Fashion Week proved that the brand remains a singular sanctuary for the fashionably restless. Taking over the Refectoire des Cordeliers, Stefano Gallici returned to the space that defined the house’s early years to showcase his “Dear Night Thoughts” collection. In the show notes, the creative director shares a bit of his own late night musings: “Last night I dreamt of when we were getting high in our little East of Eden, listening to Sweet Sixteen, a bit sad for feeling seventeen already. We sang with our heroes, thirty-three rounds per minute.”
Arriving at a Ann Demeulemeester show feels intimately distinct to others as Gallici has successfully transformed the label into a magnet for a fresh community of creatives who value his specific take on romantic, rock-inflected attire over rigid archival imitation or content-frenzied crowds.
The atmosphere was deeply rooted in the brand’s historic dialogue with literature and music. A live performance by Beguiling Junior set a moody tone that incorporated the voice of Allen Ginsberg into the soundtrack. The runway itself bridged generations of cool as Billy Idol walked in a fringed leather cape while Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page watched from the front row alongside modern muses like Lourdes Leon and Tokischa. By blending the rebellious spirit of poets like Arthur Rimbaud with contemporary silhouettes, Gallici has ensured that Ann Demeulemeester is not just a legacy brand but a living projection of youth culture sometimes missed in mainstream fashion conversations.
As for the garment standouts, the collection draws its strength from a smattering of historical and modern influences. Gallici treated 19th-century silhouettes and collegiate staples with a deliberate grit, offering “rusted” leathers and shredded gold-trimmed denim. Tattered varsity sweaters were reimagined as dresses while lace underskirts were paired with biker boots to evoke a sense of intentional imperfection.
