Umbro and LC23 Are World Cup-Ready With New Collaboration
Making tailoring a terrace staple.
Umbro is counting down the days until the World Cup with its usual drops teetering the line between football and fashion, and this time Italian label LC23 is joining in on the fun. Launching their third collaboration as part of Umbro’s ongoing “Tailored for Umbro” project, the collection merges English and Italian football history and design codes for a chic new take on fan attire.
Heavily inspired by LC23 founder Leo Collacico’s memories of the 1990 World Cup in Italy, particularly in his hometown of Bari in Puglia, the shirts take some of Umbro’s most memorable designs and transform them into timeless fashion pieces rooted in nostalgia and the beautiful game.
England’s 1990 World Cup jersey is the foundation for the capsule, with an oversized Three Lions badge reimagined with LC23 spelled out in Italian. Imaginary match details sit below the crest, paying homage to Bari, Italy and the two brands’ nations. A layered pinstripe shirt sits beneath the reimagined jersey, with “Umbro” written across the chest when the football kit is unbuttoned.
Citing Paul Gascoigne as one of the players he distinctly remembers from the tournament, the English icon’s No.19 is printed on the chest and the back for a finishing touch.
The new Umbro x LC23 collection is available to purchase now, exclusively on the LC23 website.
