Matières Fécales Captures the All-Trans Cast of Sasha Colby's 'Dolls Folies'
In a historical visual project featuring global performers styled in couture and raising money for LGBTQIA+ rights.
Matières Fécales unveiled a striking photographic series documenting the groundbreaking cast of Sasha Colby’s Dolls Folies show at the legendary Folies Bergère theater in Paris. Shot on the historic stage by Steven Raj, the portraits unite an intergenerational lineup of trans creatives, cabaret artists and drag performers from across the globe to support local LGBTQIA+ initiatives.
The visual editorial features an impressive roster of queer icons, including Amanda Lepore, Gigi Goode, Sasha Colby, Lewis G Burton, Allanah Star and Sam Buttery, alongside performers in their 80s and 90s. For the production, the cast is styled in a mix of experimental couture and ready-to-wear garments designed by the independent fashion house. The dramatic looks are paired with Christian Louboutin footwear and custom hats crafted by milliner Stephen Jones.
Beyond the striking visual presentation, the entire creative project operates with a clear community focus. The project’s proceeds are distributed directly to La Maison d’Allanah by Alannah Star and Stop Homophobie, two vital organizations dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ refugees and community members navigating safety in France. The resulting images document a rare moment in theater history, fusing high-fashion tailoring with global nightlife activism.
