Madhappy and KEEN Gave the Mary Jane a Gorpcore Makeover
Reworking an archival silhouette with plaid, suede and ripstop nylon.
Mary Janes have made their way into the mountains. Madhappy and KEEN are putting their spin on the unlikely footwear crossover, teaming up to rework KEEN’s archival Malibu silhouette.
Originally introduced in 2006, the all-terrain Mary Jane gets a playful update courtesy of Madhappy, bringing the LA label’s signature approach to the outdoors into the mix. The collaboration arrives in two plaid colorways, “Grass” and “Rose,” combining ripstop nylon and suede uppers with reflective webbing for a technical edge.
Underfoot, the silhouette retains KEEN’s Wasatch Crest tooling, balancing its nostalgic outdoors DNA with the more fashion-forward appeal of the Mary Jane. The collaboration lands at a particularly timely moment for the style, as Mary Janes continue to shed their schoolgirl associations and outdoor-inspired footwear becomes increasingly embedded in everyday wardrobes. Think less hiking boot, more city-to-trail styling.
The collaboration is now available via the Madhappy and KEEN websites.
