Dior Debuts an Artistic Spring/Summer 2018 Campaign
Inspired by female creators.
Christian Dior recently released its Spring/Summer 2018 campaign inspired by French-American artist and sculptor, Niki de Saint Phalle.
Shot by world-renowned photographer Patrick Demarchelier, Russian model Sasha Pivovarova is adorned in designs by Dior artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri. Pivovarova is surrounded by her own painted work of women with large faces and dreamy eyes. In a statement, the French fashion house shared that further inspiration for the shots came from “the ’60s, and with them a spirit of that’s equal parts artistic, feminine and cheekily playful.”
The looks chosen for the campaign are mod with a hint of eccentricity. Pivovarova’s opening look for the French fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2018 show is also pictured. It features the title of American artist Linda Nochlin’s women-centric essay, “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?” on a long-sleeved shirt.
