An Exclusive Front Row Look at Dior Men's Pre-Fall 2019 Show in Tokyo
In attendance was Bella Hadid, Yoon Ahn, Diplo, David Beckham and more.
After presenting an immensely successful Spring/Summer 2019 show as his inaugural Dior Men’s show, Kim Jones now returns with another ovation-worthy Pre-Fall 2019 presentation. Showcasing his latest collection in Tokyo at the Telecom Center Station, the fashion event was nothing short of spectacular. Having already teamed up with revered artist KAWS for SS19, Jones’ latest collaborator is none other than Japanese talent Hajime Sorayama. On what it was like working with the legendary creative, Jones says:
“I’m working with artists because Christian Dior was a gallerist before he was a couturier. He worked with the leading artists of his time, like Salvador Dalí and Picasso, so I looked to what the modern generation’s take on that would be, hence starting with KAWS and now Hajime Sorayama.”
Once again, Yoon Ahn created a stunning set of jewelry to accompany the show’s pieces and overall theme. Aligned with the futuristic environment that was skilfully brought to life by Sorayama – by way of a towering femme bot character that is known to dominate the artist’s work – Yoon’s effortlessly chic pieces are seen all throughout the looks. Constructed out of glistening silver materials, armor-like finger wraps and biomechanic-inspired jewelry is seen on models walking down the runway. Matthew Williams of 1017 ALYX 9SM once again also lends a design hand for hardware across the collection, seen in the hallmark rollercoaster buckles seen in numerous garments and accessories.
Before the show, we also got a chance to document the star-studded front row at the show. In attendance were the likes of Bella Hadid, Hiroshi Fujiwara, Daniel Arsham, Kozue Akimoto, ASAP Rocky, Diplo, Takashi Murakami, Ami and Aya, Verdy, David Beckham and more.
