A First Look at Virgil Abloh x IKEA's "MARKERAD" Collaboration Series
Including the “KEEP OFF” rug.
Virgil Abloh has been keeping himself busy as usual. Having recently announced the release of his “GHOSTING” Converse Chuck 70, the Off-White™ designer is now about to reveal his full collection with Swedish furniture brand, IKEA.
Dubbed “MARKERAD,” the highly-anticipated product line is created especially for millennials and features a lineup of home goods that fuses IKEA’s approachable furniture designs and Virgil’s signature aesthetic. The release will include the Persian-style “KEEP OFF” rug, which we first saw back in October 2017 during a Periscope live stream session. Another hand-shaved rug in red is playfully juxtaposed with the word “BLUE.”
At the media-invite opening, we also saw the reimagined “SCULPTURE” FRACKTA tote bags that the duo first teased last summer, as well as items like a wooden chair, a triangular doorstop and some glass door cabinet units. Notably, Virgil’s new Nike Air Presto sneakers in white and black are displayed neatly on the glass shelves. Featuring a wooden frame, the cabinet is rounded off by bold red handles that are shaped like nails. Scroll through the gallery above to see it for yourself.
All of the products are currently still in prototype stage. Be sure to stay tuned here for any further updates on the collaboration series.
Most recently, Virgil has co-hosted a livestream with IKEA to show fans what they can expect from the project. Keep your eyes peeled for more.
