Yoon Takes You Backstage at AMBUSH's First Runway Show
Debuting at 2018 Tokyo Fashion Week.
For Yoon, 2018 is shaping up to be a big one. She was recently appointed Dior Homme’s jewelry designer by new artistic director Kim Jones and prior to that, saw AMBUSH‘s debut at Tokyo Fashion Week.
For the Fall/Winter 2018 season, her brand collaborated with Amazon on a surprise apparel capsule and with Beats by Dre, on orange headphones. The collection – including the 33 looks that walked the runway – collectively make up the “NOBO” collection.
In her own words:
“NOBO means northbound. I grew up in Seattle and I had a chance to go out there last summer, and it was just nice being back in the northwest of America where I grew up. I was super inspired by nature. I wanted to do a collection trekking back into my old memories.”
NOBO was thus a weather-conscious look, with outerwear tailored to temperate conditions. Oversized and with a sportswear-backed inspiration palette, the collection was edged in mired grunge.
