1017 ALYX 9SM Debuts Its First Runway Show at Paris Fashion Week
Combining menswear and womenswear.
After announcing its name change last month, 1017 ALYX 9SM took to Paris to debut its first-ever runway collection at Fashion Week Men’s. Fronted by Matthew Williams, who has made a name for himself in the industry for his luxury take on streetwear, the show was all about defining the DNA of the brand. Not only was the show packed with some of the biggest names in fashion, Williams also decided to combine menswear and womenswear for the Spring/Summer 2019 season. Debuting everything from over-sized denim jackets to sequin-covered bodysuits, the collection combined streetwear influences with high fashion design.
Of course, 1017 ALYX 9SM’s iconic “rollercoaster belt” made an appearance on the runway, being present on everything from belts to bags. The brand also collaborated with sportswear giant Nike, creating both simple sportswear-influenced garments as well as shoes. Last but not least, the runway show also featured pieces in collaboration with Mackintosh, marking 1017 ALYX 9SM’s third season of Mackintosh men’s and womenswear.
