Take a Look Inside CALVIN KLEIN's Design Miami/Basel Installation
American home decor at its finest.
CALVIN KLEIN has given us a sneak peek inside its first installation at Design Miami/Basel. Chief creative office Raf Simons reinterpreted the American country barn filling a mock structure with limited-edition Cassina Feltri armchairs that he upholstered himself.
The barn is one of the many built for the brand’s 205W39NYC Fall 2018 show using wood dated to the 19th century. The armchairs were created by Italian designer Gaetano Pesce for Cassina in 1987 adding a new take to the traditional form. Simons selected 100 Feltri armchairs and covered each in one-of-a-kind American heirloom quilts that represent the country’s heritage and former handcrafting ethos. Half of the chairs on display will be available for purchases at the Fair and the rest will be sold through Cassina at an unconfirmed date.
