PHLEMUNS Nonbasics Offers a New Genderless, Affordable Take on Everyday Wear

Arriving in a bold, summer-ready color palette.

We’ve had our eyes on James Flemuns over the past few years. His line PHLEMUNS launched back in 2015, and has been seen on the likes of Solange, Kelela and Dev Hynes. From the very beginning, Flemuns’ work has stood out due to his expressive, unisex collections and his poignant collaborations. In the past, he worked alongside Knowles’ Saint Heron to create a pastel-filled capsule which we still find ourselves looking back at. Now, the designer has partnered with Lexie Park on a line titled “Nonbasics.”

The creative pair were directly inspired by the vintage periods in the ’90s and early ’00s when United Colors of Benetton and FUBU reigned supreme. In the official lookbook, backless T-shirts, eccentric pants and more take center stage in muted colors like black, khaki and maroon. What’s refreshing about this range is the fashion line’s affinity for utilizing quirky shapes and its logo in a way that’s exciting. In total, this new collection is yet another example of PHLEMUNS stepping away from normalcy which in turn allows the brand to flourish within the luxury market.

The PHLEMUNS Nonbasics capsule will be available for purchase at phlemuns.com later this month. Stay tuned here for more details surrounding the collection’s drop date. Check out the lookbook in the gallery above.
