I'm Only Wearing Zendaya's Sunset Eyes as My Makeup for the Rest of the Summer
This is how I recreated the look.
I don’t know about where you live but it definitely felt like it was autumn already in Vancouver last weekend. The long forgotten showers and breeze are making their return, and I’m simply not ready for sweater weather yet. Apart from throwing on an extra layer whenever necessary, I’ve been combatting the coolness with my makeup – more specifically, what I like to call the Zendaya “sunset eyes.”
Inspired by an Instagram photo posted by the Spider-Man actress recently, the easy-to-recreate makeup look is one that’s made for the late summer. It adds the perfect amount of warmth to your face, even if it doesn’t do the same to the rest of your body. Continue reading for a quick rundown.
The Base
Keep it as effortless and natural as possible. A tinted moisturizer like Chanel‘s lightweight LES BEIGES formula is ideal for the job. Packed with SPF 30, the product not only provides sun protection, but also preps your skin and gives it a healthy, dewy glow. Shop yours for $40.50 USD at Chanel Beauty stockists like Selfridges.
The Eyes
The shimmery eyelids are the star of the show here. To achieve that, I’ve been using Hourglass‘ newly released Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadows ($29 USD). Using your fingers, start by building the base with the taupe-ish “Smoke” shade, then layer the coppery “Blaze” on top. The hybrid cream formula makes it so easy to blend the different colors. I’m also always impressed by the minimal amount of fallout towards the end of the day. Finish it off with your choice of brow product and mascara, and you’re almost done. Now, just a few more things…
The Blush
Complement the glittery copper hue on your lids with an equally warm blush. The Glossier Cloud Paint “Dawn” ($18 USD) has been an absolute summer favorite and for good reason. The gel-cream formula sees excellent color payoff, so realistically you’ll only need to use the slightest amount of product to give your cheeks a bit of color.
The Glow
No look is completed without a generous amount of highlighter applied onto the hight points of your face. A great one for emulating Zendaya’s bronzy look is Rihanna‘s Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in “HU$TLA BABY” ($34 USD). The beloved product adds a nice final touch to the look, giving your cheekbones and brow bones the attention they deserve. Don’t forget to seal everything off with a setting spray after putting on your go-to neutral lipstick.
