Japanese Model ROLA Takes on NYC in Alexander Wang's Latest "COLLECTION 1"

With creative direction by former ‘GRIND’ editor-in-chief, Takuya Chiba.

Having first moved to New York City when he was just 18-years old, the very DNA of Alexander Wang‘s eponymous label has since become engrained with the city that inspired the designer’s sartorial awakening. For his latest collection, the designer has now tapped Japanese model ROLA to interpret the brand’s forthcoming “COLLECTION 1” release.

With Silver Magazine‘s Takuya Chiba (who was formerly the editor-in-chief of revered magazines, GRIND and PERK), taking on creative direction duties, the resulting images are laced with a distinct edge that has come to be associated with Japan’s hallmark street style. Starting in ROLA’s hotel room, where the model poses in a series of intimate photographs, the editorial continues on a nightcrawler’s journey through the urban jungle’s nocturnal landscape. From the new monochromatic sneakers debuted on the AW runway back in June, to a fiery red leather jacket, each item is a head-turning statement piece worn to perfection by the globetrotting model.

You can take a look at the full editorial in the gallery above. “COLLECTION 1” is slated to drop in October. Make sure to follow Alexander Wang on Instagram and Twitter for the latest updates, which will include the official announcement for the range’s launch.
