Louis Vuitton Releases Second of Nine Virgil Abloh-Designed 408 Global LV Trainers

Part of a collection of limited-edition, city-specific sneakers.

Following the debut of Louis Vuitton‘s extravagant Sneaker Trunk, the brand has released the second, New York-specific iteration of its 408 Global LV Trainer, a set of limited-edition high tops that will only be sold in eight other cities including London, Paris, Milan, Chicago, Dubai, Shanghai and Tokyo. Seoul saw the release of its sneaker on October 31.

The shoe, designed by Men’s Artistic Director Virgil Abloh and constructed of 126 pieces total, features a black leather upper with gray suede and leather paneling. Details include a monogram luggage tag hanging from the ankle strap, 408 (referring to the birthday, August 4, of Louis Vuitton himself) embossed on the lateral and laces varying in color according to city: blue for New York, turquoise for Shanghai, dark green for Dubai, light blue for Paris, yellow for London, red for Seoul, orange for Chicago, pink for Milan and purple for Tokyo. LV’s monogram “flowers” are embedded into the midsole and “LVM” stamped on the tongue stands for Louis Vuitton Malletier, the brand’s full name.
