Throughout the first season, the episodes touch upon various relatable topics teenagers nowadays struggle with, such as adolescent growing pains, sexuality, abortion, coming out and slut-shaming. Viewers also expected Maeve and Otis to end up together in the season finale. During the final moments of the last episode, Maeve heads on over to Otis’ house who seemingly looked like she was ready to confess her feelings, but catches Otis kissing Ola Nyman (played by Patricia Allison).
Season 2 of Sex Education is set to release on Netflix on January 17. Ahead of the premiere, here’s everything you need to know before watching the upcoming episodes.

Ezeudu plays Viv, a super-intelligent, multi-talented academic student, who is anything but talented in love. Outalbali will be taking on the role of a French student named Rahim, who turns heads when he joins Moordale Secondary. As for Robinson, his character Isaac moves into Maeve’s caravan park. Finally, Maeve’s former addict mother, played by Duff, will appear in the new season who tries to reconnect with her daughter.

Fans can expect more confusion and frustration from Maeve and Otis’ relationship. Mackey told Cosmopolitan UK, “It’s tricky because I don’t even know where they stand anymore, I think they both need to figure some stuff out.”
There’s a new gang in town.
The new season’s plot will highlight Moordale battling a Chlamydia outbreak. In addition, the series will be adding a new group of kids whose number one goal is to create drama and shake things up.
In the season finale, Otis and Ola establish their relationship. However, in Season 2, Otis reportedly struggles to progress with Ola due to his strained friendship with Maeve.
There’ll be more sex.
After Otis’ first successful erection during the finale of season one, the second season will explore more sex as Otis tries to master his newly discovered sexual urges in order to progress with his girlfriend Ola. According to The Hollywood Reporter, queer sex will also be explored more this season, “using Eric and Rahim’s friendship to cover topics that feel taboo.”
