Here's How the Dior x RIMOWA Suitcase Collection Was Made
The process is similar to the construction of a couture garment.
Following the official release of Dior‘s collection with RIMOWA, the Parisian label gives customers an inside look at how the range — specifically, the Cabin suitcase — was developed. From preliminary sketches to computer-programmed models to actually fabricating the aluminum shell, the production process is long and intricate.
Similar to a handcrafted couture garment, the Dior x RIMOWA range is largely assembled by hand. Though machines take care of precisely cutting and measuring each piece of the suitcase, Dior’s video reveals the manual construction of the entire unit, from its exterior frame to its matching interior Dior-monogrammed lining.
The Dior x RIMOWA suitcase collection — comprised of the Cabin, Trunk and Handcase — ranges from $2,440 to $4,620 USD and is available now on Dior’s website.
