Virgil Abloh Teams up With Nike for Another "Athlete in Progress" Collection

Releasing with the anticipated Off-White™ x Nike Vapor Street sneaker.

Longtime collaborators Virgil Abloh and Nike are continuing their partnership, this time unveiling the second installment of the “Athlete In Progress” collection. The capsule is women’s exclusive, and follows the track-and-field and sportswear-inspired aesthetic previously seen in the earlier collection.

The new capsule collection features World Champion 200-meter sprinter Dina Asher-Smith, sporting the range which boasts track tops, running leggings and lightweight outerwear, taking on Abloh’s signature aesthetic. The pieces sport Off-White™‘s eye-catching logo branding as well as the iconic “X,” emblazoned with Nike’s Swoosh logo. In terms of color, the range comes in eye-catching hues like black and yellow, as well as influences of denim and tie-dye effects.

In addition to the apparel, the “Athlete In Progress” collection also includes the previously teased Off-White™ x Nike Vapor Street sneaker in three colorways. The trainer boasts a translucent and textured overlay, accompanied by Abloh’s signature Off-White™ design touches, complete with a track-and-field-inspired sole. The sneaker is arriving in “Black/White/Black/Laser Fuchsia,” “Polarized Blue/Tour Yellow” and “Tour Yellow/Black/Light Bone.”

“I started talking with Nike about this women’s running project last summer and at the time, I was very much inspired by the aesthetic and style of track and field athletes. As a result, I invited some of Nike’s elite track and field champions to participate in my SS19 Off-White runway show as the natural forerunner to developing and showcasing the collection,” said Abloh on the origins of the project.

Stay tuned as the second collection of the “Athlete In Progress” collaboration arrives at select stockists and at the Nike web store on November 14.
