CELINE Reinvents Summer Bags With Its New Basket Collection

A summer staple.

Hedi Slimane is back with a new CELINE collection capitalizing off of a micro-trend spotted recently: basket bags. The newest line features two bucket bags, a medium quilted piece, a medium basket and a raffia carry-all. Each of these options makes us think of warm weather, sand and bathing suits.

First up in the capsule is the bucket – a handmade piece crafted in Italy. This pick is woven from natural wicker with calfskin on the top handle. Next is the medium quilted bag constructed with a “C” charm and a chain with raffia. Also seen in the lineup is the medium basket, an option made with a traditional weaving technique and includes a wide leather panel. The range is rounded out by a raffia and leather clutch and a bucket-inspired bag. Both of these come with black leather detailing.

Head over to CELINE’s web store to purchase select bags from the Summer 2019 Basket collection.

While you are here, take a look at the former Céline designers leaving a mark on the fashion industry.
