Vera Wang Puts a Spotlight on Futuristic Frames for SS19
Sunglasses that combine sport, utility and shield.
Never one to shy away from making a statement, designer Vera Wang has released a host of bold sunglasses for Spring/Summer 2019. The latest offering of eyewear fuses fashion and function together — a result of studying the various forms sunglasses have taken on across sport, welding and construction.
Debuting three street-inspired silhouettes named “Han,” “Lin” and “Wang,” each style takes on a simplistic yet sleek design and exposed structure. “I wanted a more modern, techno attitude in our eyewear mix [because] it’s one of the most important accessories in a woman’s wardrobe,” says designer Vera Wang on how she put a sophisticated spin on bold, transformative eyewear.
By employing functional prongs and screws as design details, the visible construction of the eyewear contributes to the utilitarian aesthetic of the frames. Suspended by a thin, ultra-lightweight sheet of stainless steel, the “Wang” has been treated with a ghost-etched logo on the lens, while the “Han” and “Lin” frames offer a modernized take on floating lenses.
Considering their dramatic features, the stage is the ultimate setting for the latest Vera Wang Eyewear lookbook. Amplifying each of the three distinct silhouettes with strong lighting, experimentative styling and a dramatic setting, the new eyewear collection is on full display.
