A Backstage Look at Off-White™'s "Meteor Strike" Show at Paris Fashion Week
Featuring appearances from Gigi and Bella Hadid, Halsey, Peggy Gou and more.
Virgil Abloh just debuted his anticipated SS20 collection for his cult label Off-White™ in Paris, and although the designer couldn’t be there himself due to illness, he still managed to put on a show. Dubbed “Meteor Strike,” the range was inspired by both space as well as the strength of women highlighted by a diverse cast of powerful models parading down the runway.
The show opened with a voice recording of Dr. Mae Jemison, who was the first black woman to travel in space, speaking about creativity in science as well as the arts. As for the collection, Abloh brought back familiar motifs like Off-White™’s signature “X” logo branding, in addition to a selection of streamlined shapes. Everything from casual pants and T-shirts to bold gowns and tailored suits were shown on the runway, all taking on the label’s unique streetwear-influenced luxury aesthetic throughout. Of course models like Gigi and Bella Hadid made an appearance on the runway, as well as Adut Akech and Alek Wek.
In true Off-White™ fashion, the show also saw a star-studded attendance list, with appearances from Halsey, Peggy Gou, Tyga and more sitting front row. We got an exclusive backstage look at the collection at Paris Fashion Week, so take a look at everything you missed from the show in the gallery above.
