Netflix Officially Resumes Production for 'Never Have I Ever' Season 2
There’s also a new kid on the block enrolling at Sherman Oaks High.
UPDATE (November 25, 2020): Netflix has finally started filming the second season of Never Have I Ever. According to Teen Vogue, the show’s main cast will be returning, which includes Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Darren Barnet, Lee Rodriguez, Ramona Young and Jaren Lewison. “There was no hesitation to get back to work, the cast were all so excited to get back to work, COVID be damned,” Mindy Kaling told Deadline. “Our production has done a great job, I had to come in 20 minutes early to have my COVID test and it’s changed the face of craft services, but that’s pretty much it.”
In addition, a new character is set to join the gang at Sherman Oaks High. Previously seen on Fresh off the Boat and Valentine’s Day, Megan Suri will play the role of Aneesa, “a new Indian student at Sherman Oaks High, whose confidence and radiance will pose an immediate threat to Devi.”
The streaming giant has yet to announce Never Have I Ever Season 2’s official premiere date. Stay tuned while we wait for more updates.
ORIGINAL STORY (October 23, 2020): Netflix’s Never Have I Ever is officially heading back to set next month. According to Variety, the show will take all the necessary COVID-19 precautions once production starts.
A specific date has not been confirmed, but Season 2 will definitely see the return of your favorite characters, including Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), Paxton Hall-Yoshida (Darren Barnet), Fabiola Torres (Lee Rodriguez), Eleanor Wong (Ramona Young) and Ben Gross (Jaren Lewison). Reports state that the streaming giant and its producer Universal Television are aiming to commence filming again on November 10, which means the second season could potentially launch mid-2021.
For those who aren’t familiar with the show, Never Have I Ever Season 1 follows the story of an Indian-American teenage girl named Devi who tries to navigate her way through her sophomore year of high school. With the goal to lose her virginity to her crush, Paxton, Devi loses sight of who she truly is and slowly neglects her best friends who are going through life-changing events.
