Johnny Depp Resigns From 'Fantastic Beasts' Franchise
After losing his libel case in the UK regarding the Sun’s allegations that the actor abused his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Johnny Depp‘s ongoing legal battle with British publication The Sun came to an end earlier this week, with the actor losing his libel case regarding the allegations by the publication stating that the actor abused his ex-wife Amber Heard. Now, Depp has been asked by Warner Bros. to resign from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in the third installment of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Depp posted a statement to Instagram explaining that he will be honoring the request, adding, “The surreal judgement of the court in the U.K. will not change my fight to tell the truth, and I confirm that I plan to appeal. My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false. My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time.”
It is yet unclear who will be replacing Johnny Depp in the role.
