Prada Mistakenly Launched Sale With Prices 99% off Due to Technical Issues
The fashion house has since clarified the incident with an official statement.
UPDATE (November 18, 2020): Following the technical issues that resulted in online prices accidentally slashed to 99 percent off, Prada has now released an official statement to clarify the incident: “Our Prada official website experienced a technical problem which resulted in price inaccuracy indicated on some merchandise. The issue is now resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
ORIGINAL STORY (November 17, 2020): Much to the delight of surprised shoppers, Prada‘s Japanese website experienced a technical glitch that enabled 99 percent off on items including accessories and apparel.
According to those who visited the site during the accidental sale, steep price slashes began appearing on November 10 at midnight JST. Prices remained reduced until November 11 at 4 p.m. JST. Signature pieces such as nylon bags, bucket hats, jackets and sneakers were priced between ¥583 to ¥2,255 JPY, approximately $5 to $21 USD.
Prada Japan apologized for the mistake on Twitter — though the brand has yet to release a more detailed statement on the mix-up, it’s rumored all orders placed during the sale have been canceled.
