As we slowly reach the end of 2020, TIME has now announced its list of 100 best inventions of the year. Categorized into 25 sections, selections feature everything from beauty and fashion, to home gadgets and gaming equipment.
In the beauty category, highlights include the Dyson Corrale – a straightener that styles hair with less heat to cause less damage – and L’Oréal‘s Perso – a dispenser that blends lipsticks, foundation and skincare products to create a personalized formula based on the user’s needs. In fitness, Nike‘s Air Zoom Alphafly Next% wins a spot for proving its high performance after being worn by Eliud Kipchoge, the first human to run a sub-two-hour marathon. Elsewhere, Nintendo‘s hit video game Animal Crossing: New Horizons is mentioned alongside Sony‘s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft‘s Xbox Series 5. Meanwhile, Callaly’s Tampliner – a hybrid tampon and panty liner designed for optimal convenience – takes the spotlight in the wellness category.
