Airbnb Launches "Online Experiences" Enabling Virtual Travel
Take a tango class or meditate with monks, all from home.
As the coronavirus pandemic puts a temporary stop on travel, Airbnb hosts around the world are losing income. In response, the home-sharing platform has launched “Online Experiences,” an array of virtual classes, workshops and more enabling those quarantined to take part in activities around the world.
Instead of renting their homes to travelers, Airbnb hosts are now leading location-specific experiences such as meditation with Buddhist monks in Japan, cooking local cuisine with a Moroccan family and a tango class led by professional dancers from Argentina. Airbnb is providing hosts with free premium access to video call app Zoom, through which all experiences take place.
Head to the Airbnb website to browse all available online experiences. More will be added in the next coming months.
