'Vogue' Taps Billy Porter to Launch The #MetGalaChallenge on Instagram
Encouraging all to stay creative during times of self-isolation.
With the 2020 Met Gala being indefinitely postponed due to the global coronavirus pandemic, Vogue has begun a social media challenge with Billy Porter to keep the iconic red carpet moments alive. With the launch of the initiative, anyone can now show off their looks for a chance to be featured on the fashion platform by using the hashtag #MetGalaChallenge.
This challenge takes inspiration from the viral Quarantine Fashion Challenge that Porter has been sharing on his own Instagram account as an attempt to encourage fans to stay creative during times of self-isolation. It initially began with the star asking his followers to use items in their home to create their own take on his 2019 Met Gala look by shooting at-home runway walks. Now joining forces with Vogue, he encourages all fashion fanatics to dig through the Met Gala archives to create their favorite looks.
Announced by the fashion publication through Instagram, all you need to do to enter the challenge is to recreate a previous Met Gala look from home. After posting an image of yourself in the full outfit on the social media platform with the hashtag #MetGalaChallenge, Billy Porter and Vogue will select winners, who will then be featured on Vogue.com as well as the @voguemagazine page.
