CELINE Unveils New Bohemian-Inspired Jacno Babouche Unisex Slippers
Available in black, white and a snakeskin print.
For CELINE‘s latest Spring/Summer 2020 product drop, the French fashion house has unveiled the new Babouche unisex slipper as part of its Jacno footwear line. For those who aren’t familiar with the French word “babouche,” it literally translates to “slipper.” The term derives from the Arabic word “babush,” which is used to describe a type of open back flat shoe constructed out of pliable leather.
Babouches were worn by famous rock stars like Mick Jagger and Jimi Hendrix, and even fashion designer Loulou de la Falaise during the ’60s and ’70s in Marrakech, Morocco – now a stylish destination for fashion lovers. Staying true to the bohemian spirit of the silhouette’s origin, CELINE’s Babouche is made entirely out of soft leather and features kidskin along the lining. The pair comes in black, white and a snakeskin print iteration, and arrives with a five-millimeter heel. Take a detailed look at all the offerings in the gallery above.
The first two colorways retail for $640 USD each, while the python-printed version is priced at $1,100 USD. All three Jacno Babouches are now available to purchase via CELINE’s website. In case you missed it, don’t forget to check out the fashion house’s latest Triomphe Canvas Ava Bag.
