Instagram Launches "Guides," a New Feature Offering Curated Wellness Advice

To support those struggling amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

Instagram has announced a new feature that will help users navigate the coronavirus pandemic with curated advice pertaining to wellness, anxiety and grief.

Dubbed “Guides,” the addition will allow participating creators to upload tips and recommendations to a dedicated section on their profile. The feature is also set to launch on the Explore page in the near future. So far, the accounts of organizations including mental health platform Heads Together, suicide prevention foundation ASFP and German Internet safety group Klicksafe have created Guides, accessible through their profiles via the mobile Instagram app (currently, the feature isn’t available on Instagram’s desktop version).

“We know people are struggling due to COVID-19, so the first Guides focus on wellness content from respected organizations and creators,” Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri wrote on Twitter. The feature was originally intended to focus on travel content, but pivoted course in light of the pandemic.

In related news, Instagram recently expanded its efforts to combat cyberbully with several new features to control comments.
