Instagram Launches New Features to Combat Online Bullying and Spam
Users can now pin, mass-delete and restrict comments.
Expanding its efforts to curb cyberbullying and spam, Instagram has introduced several new features allowing users to control comments on their posts to a greater extent.
The social media platform launched the ability to mass delete comments, a handy alternative to removing them one by one — users can now select up to 25 comments on a single post and delete them all at once. Additional options to restrict and block comments from multiple accounts, hide certain words and pin favorite comments to the top of a post offer further control. According to a statement by the company, the new features are meant to “give people an easy way to amplify and encourage positive interactions.”
Lastly, the app has added an option to control which accounts can tag or mention you in both feed posts and Stories. Users can choose from three overarching categories: everyone, people you follow or no one at all.
In related news, Instagram added a Donations feature in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
