Helmut Lang has just released his latest collection in collaboration with queer fashion designer Willie Norris for Pre-Fall 2020. The capsule was initially set to drop in late May – however, out of respect for the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless others, the duo decided to push back the launch.

Dubbed Helmut Language by Willie Norris, the collection was inspired by Lang’s signature design codes and graphic language motifs, which have been embellished on a selection of repurposed garments. Bold phrases such as “CONFESS CONCEAL,” “THE WORDS ARE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU” and “WITH PRACTICE YOU CAN LEARN ANYTHING” can be found on the deadstock jeans, long and short-sleeved T-shirts, as well as the hoodies. “Words are powerful, but only if you let them be. Only if you let them guide your action and use them to inspire those around you,” Norris said in a statement.

According to a press release, Lang has also partnered up with ACLU and will donate to the Equal Justice Initiative in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Additionally, Norris will be allocating his “entire design fee for this project to a number of local Brooklyn grassroots organizations that support Black trans women,” as well as queer families he’s personally met who are in need of financial aid amid these trying times.

The Helmut Language by Willie Norris Pre-Fall 2020 collection ranges from $195 to $495 USD, which is now available to shop at Helmut Lang stores, online and at select retailers.
