Visual Artist Pamela Tulizo Wins Dior's Photography and Visual Arts Award for Young Talents
Featuring 13 self-portraits that explore the richness and conflict of an African woman’s identity.
Last week, Dior announced the winner of the third edition of its Photography and Visual Arts Award for Young Talents in partnership with ENSP. Hosted by Luma Arles, the competition’s jury included Viviane Sassen, Rachel Rose, Maja Hoffman, Emma Lavigne, Simon Baker, Jérôme Pulis and Helena Christensen who all gathered online to choose the award-winning piece.
Documentary photographer and visual artist Pamela Tulizo from Eastern Congo was named this year’s winner thanks to her series titled Double Identity. Based on the theme of “Face to Face,” Tulizo explored the richness and conflict of an African woman’s identity. Featuring 13 self-portraits, the creative demonstrated “powerful representation, remarkable acuteness and genuine evocative strength, which captivated the entire jury,” according to a press release. As part of her win, Tulizo received a €10,000 EUR (approximately $11,470 USD) grant from the fashion house, as well as a creative commission.
