Here's How Dior's New Caro Bag Is Made
A fresh silhouette that made its debut on Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Cruise 2021 runway.
Following its knitted Bar jacket, Dior has now unveiled a behind-the-scenes look at the production process of its new Caro bag. The luxury purse first made its debut on the house’s Cruise 2021 runway designed by none other than Maria Grazia Chiuri.
From conceptualization to execution, Dior reveals all of the steps in developing the handbag as part of its “Savoir-Faire” series. Building on a detailed illustration, the atelier cuts patterns from leather panels before moving onto an intricate quilting stage. With 18,000 stitches, the geometric cannage pattern is created. Golden “Christian Dior” branding is pressed onto the inner pieces, while metal “CD” accessories adorn the external design. The Caro bag is complete with a chain strap.
