Here's How Dior's Knitted Bar Jacket is Made
The house debuts the first-ever knitted iteration of its iconic blazer.
Having provided a behind-the-scenes look at the Bobby Bag, Dior has now unveiled visuals showing how its iconic Bar jacket is crafted. Starting from illustrations, the heritage label takes fans on a tour through the multiple steps of draping and sewing.
Celebrating its 73rd anniversary this year, the Bar jacket is known for its hourglass silhouette. Making its debut during postwar times, the garment marked one of the biggest moments in fashion history as part of the iconic New Look. This time around, Maria Grazia Chiuri has added a modern twist to the piece using knitted black wool. The atelier crafted four prototypes to land the perfect drape, and dedicated 10 hours to develop a special knitting program for the design. With additional 6.5 hours of production, the final product is finally assembled and comes to life.
