Elliot Page Files for Divorce From Emma Portner
The two quietly separated last summer.
Actor Elliot Page has filed for divorce from his wife Emma Portner after tying the knot in 2018. Last summer, Page and Portner quietly separated, so this decision has been a long time coming for the both of them.
“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer,” they shared in a joint statement acquired by BBC. “We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends,” they added. Prior to making the announcement, Page and Portner removed all of their photos of each other on Instagram – a clear indicator that their relationship has officially ended.
Page came out as transgender and non-binary last month and received an overwhelming amount of support, especially from Portner. “I am so proud of @elliotpage. Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world,” Portner said in an Instagram post. “I also ask for patience and privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.”
