Tom Ford "Deeply Sad For Days" After Watching 'House of Gucci'
Gucci’s former creative director said the film would be devastating for those who knew the players.
Buckle up — House of Gucci, the highly anticipated film left designer Tom Ford feeling as though he had “lived through a hurricane” after watching it. Featuring pop star Lady Gaga and Adam Driver at the center of the opulent tragedy, the motion picture chronicles the too-good-to-be-true collapse of the family behind the luxury brand.
“I was deeply sad for several days after watching House of Gucci, a reaction that I think only those of us who knew the players and the play will feel. It was hard for me to see the humor and camp in something that was so bloody. In real life, none of it was camp. It was at times absurd, but ultimately it was tragic,” writes the former Gucci creative director to Air Mail.
Naturally, the designer was not without commentary on the overall aesthetics of the film. Praising Gaga as the star of the movie, Ford noted the “impeccable costumes, stunning sets, and beautiful cinematography.”
House of Gucci is currently available for viewing in theaters.
