Harry and Meghan Officially Resign From Royal Duties
Buckingham Palace announced the news this morning.
Last year, the couple decided to step back from their royal duties to focus on their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Now, Harry and Meghan, who are expecting their second child, have fully relinquished their official work. According to a statement published on Palace’s official website earlier this morning, Queen Elizabeth II will redistribute their titles and appointments to other members of the royal family. “While all are saddened by their decision, The Duke and Duchess remain much loved members of the family,” the brief statement concludes.
On March 7, Harry and Meghan will appear on a primetime interview with Oprah Winfrey, an event that will likely see them discuss their now-permanent split from the royal family, as well as the Queen’s rumored animosity towards Meghan.
